Il a cette capacité à raconter des histoires tout en y incorporant des réflexions sur des sujets de société (la beauté, le pouvoir, ...), il crée les plus gros anti-héro de la littérature américaine du XXIe siècle et à aucun moment il ne jugera leur comportement. Parce que c'est pour ça qu'il écrit Chuck, il écrit simplement pour te dire : "OK, ce mec est accro au sex, mais est-ce que c'est vraiment ça le problème ? Et puis est-ce que c'est de sa faute? On ne le connait pas, on ne sait pas ce qui a pu lui arriver pour qu'il en arrive là, alors pourquoi ? Et puis qu'est-ce qu'on s'en fout !" La souffrance n'est pas un sujet drôle mais c'est intéressant à décortiquer.

He has got the power to tell a story while adding a reflection on a challenging aspect of society (beauty, power, ...), he creates the biggest anti-hero in the american literature of the 21st century and there is not one little instant when he will change them.
Because that's the reason why he writes, Chuck, he only writes to tell you :"Yeah ok, this guy is a sex addict, but is it really the problem ? And is it even his fault ? You don't know him, you don't know what happened to him in the past, so why ? Plus do we really care about this ?" Pain is not a happy topic but it is an interesting one.

Et tout ça, toujours sans juger personne, juste comme une ouverture sur le monde. Alors oui, parfois, ça met mal à l'aise mais l'inconnu met mal à l'aise et n'est pas forcément négative.

And still without judging anyone, only introducing all this as an opening to the world. So of course, sometimes, you can feel a bit awkward about some situations but what makes you feel uncomfortable is not always bad or a negative influence.

Elle est donc en enfer et travaille avec ses amis dans une sorte de call center, seul lien avec le monde des vivants (sauf si tu préfères le porno chelou qu'on peut trouver sur la toile, autre source d'emploi en enfer). Elle s'y fait des amis, sorte de clique à la Breakfast Club.
Alors Madison ne s'aime pas, ne s'est jamais aimé et grâce à tous ce qui se passe autour d'elle, elle va commencer à s'épanouir, mais est-ce vraiment une bonne chose de se rendre compte que ce qui nous a aidé à sortir de notre coquille est un environnement où l'essence même du mal prolifère ?
Drôle et sarcastique, ce roman fait réfléchir sur les notions de bien et de mal et de motivation des gens à faire le bien et le mal.

So Madison doesn't like herself, never liked herself and thanks to everything that is going to happen around her, she is going to start to open up but is it really a good thing to find out that what made you come out of your shell in a place that contains the essence of evil ?
It's funny and sarcastic, it makes you think about good and evil and what motivates people to spread good or evil around them.

C'est trop bien et en plus la couverture envoie du paté ! Ouais, c'est superficielle comme remarque mais, quand même, ça compte ! C'est cool d'avoir des livres qu'ont de la gueule qu'ils soient super vieux ou tout neufs d'ailleurs.
J'adore aussi vraiment beaucoup le style d'écriture (d'ailleurs pas mal traduit en français pour ceux qui préfèrent). Et puis j'ai vraiment pris du plaisir à le découvrir sans vraiment en avoir entendu parler, j'ai déjà l'impression d'en avoir trop dit mais t'inquiètes, même moi je connais pas vraiment la fin de l'histoire parce qu'il vient de sortir la suite BAM !
It's so good and the bonus is that the cover kicks ass ! Yes, I know it is a shallow comment but it does count ! It's always nice to have books that look like something cool whether they are very old or brand new.
I also really like the writing style (that is not badly translated into French by the way). And I really enjoyed discovering this book without having heard anything about it before. I think I said to much already but don't worry, even I don't really know the end of the story because the sequel just came out BOOM !
Doomed donc, la suite des aventures de Madison, apparemment au purgatoire, qu'il va vraiment falloir que je me procure en un minimum de temps.
